A Thanksgiving Prayer

Hi friend! God put it on my heart to share this prayer of gratitude. As many of us in the United States prepare our tables for Thanksgiving dinner, let’s also prepare our hearts with gratitude for the Lord’s presence, provision, and protection in our lives.

Lord, we thank You for who You are and how good You are to us. We praise You for being present to us at all times. We thank You for what Jesus had done on the cross, so we could have a relationship and right standing with You. Father, we thank You for Your grace, Your leading, and Your light in our lives. We are so grateful we have union with You (John 15).

Father, we praise You for your perfect provision. Even when we don’t get what we want, You know what we need and You are faithful to provide it. We thank You that Your ways are always better. We thank you for supplying our every need (Philippians 4:19), whether that may be emotional, spiritual, or material things. And as You provide for us, help us to not lose sight of our priorities. We want more of You, far more than the false security anything else could provide.

Lord, we give all the glory to You for Your protection over us. We may not know every way You have sheltered us, and Lord, we are so grateful You see, know, and care about every detail. Thank You, Lord, for being our ever-present help (Psalm 46). We have no need to fear because You are with us and You provide your perfect peace to us as we fix our eyes on You (Psalm 23:4, Isaiah 26:3). We exalt You alone.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
