God Equips Us To Do The Work (COMPEL Pro Post)

Hey friends! Today I’m sharing a social media post that I submitted through COMPEL Pro writing, and it won! You can see it on their social media pages now.

My post is about doubt, overthinking, and just doing the work God has called you to do. You can read it on Facebook, Instagram, or here:

Have you ever doubted some of your best work? Maybe you’re finally ready to press “submit,” but you shy away from the opportunity. You return to your draft to continue editing, wondering if it will ever be good enough.

Friend, if we keep striving for perfection, we will never view our work as worthy of being shared. Editing is an important step in the writing process, but it can become an obsession and an idol if we’re not careful.

We can take a deep breath and rest assured. God doesn’t call us to be flawless writers and editors. God calls us to share the Truth of the gospel, and He equips us to do the work that glorifies Him. While perfect grammar and creatively crafted sentences help us teach God’s Word, they can never replace our main motivation: to encourage and lead others to Christ.

So how do we overcome patterns of overthinking, overworking and overediting? I believe our answer is found in Colossians 3:2: “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (ESV). We shift our focus and realign our motives with God’s heart. Instead of working to win others’ approval, we seek to give glory to God through our writing. And, in turn, we will be satisfied with our effort because it honors Him.

Friend, let’s continue drafting and writing, editing and revising. Let’s keep seeking feedback and growing in our giftings. And let’s decide today not to make an idol out of the process or the product. Instead, we can utilize every opportunity to obey and honor God with our best work in the best ways.
