Rainbows for an Uptown Girl

At the end of the one-day conference in Charlotte last month, God gave me the vision for this picture.  What happened was beyond what I saw.

If you click through to the end, you’ll see a rainbow reflected in the sunlight. Why does this matter for this moment?

Rainbows remind us of God’s covenant promise to not destroy the world. They remind us that He sees, knows, and remembers. That He will provide, protect, lead, and stay with us through all things.

That’s when it clicked.

God wanted me to have a picture to remember that day, not just for what it was, but for what He did.

That day, more than anything, I was stunned by the evidence of so many answered prayers + miracles that surrounded me. God remembered the little things, even those which I may have forgotten.

He knew I wanted to be at this event, but it was far outside my budget. He made a way.

He knew I wanted a friend to go with. He provided a friend.

He knew I’d need an easy mode of transportation. He provided.

He knew I’d want to get all of my favorite meals in Charlotte. He made a way.

He knew I’d need to rest. He let me be refreshed in His presence.

He knew. He provided.

Even just this event itself.

How many times did I pray to go to Charlotte, just once, to be with this specific community? How many times did I want to just get on a plane for a short trip, but never let myself do it?

Something broke off of me the day I said I’d attend. I was no longer limiting myself to what I thought was logical. I finally opened my hands to what God had, even if it made no sense.

This picture is my reminder that God is faithful.

As I looked to the Charlotte skyline and sunshine, I was reminded of God’s goodness.

And when we look to His Son, we see a reflection of His promises.

Even if we don’t see it right away, there will always be a rainbow. There will always be a reminder of God’s presence, power, and promises to us. Don’t stop at just the first photo – it’s only a quick and limited snapshot. Stick with it through the end.

As I left that day, I wasn’t seeing the answer for everything I’ve asked God for yet. But I had seen enough to know that He sees, knows, and cares. So I’m choosing to praise Him and rest in the work He’s already done. I’m holding onto hope with expectation for what He will do. Because when something is in His timing, it will happen.
