Do you ever struggle to enjoy life in the moment? The phrase “the grass is always greener on the other side” remains true: things may look better if life were different, but realistically, you have it the best, right where you are.
For me, the past couple of years have been inundated with changes. One of the few constants in my life (besides God) has been inconsistency. It’s hard to thrive, or even appreciate, the season you’re in when nothing is what you think it should be. Or when you have so many “new beginnings” that you become disoriented by all the learning curves and transitions. You long for the complacency of what was, hoping for life to get “better.” But, what if God’s best for you is exactly where you find yourself today?
“Your New Now” by Nicki Koziarz is a book I only wish I had sooner. Through the life of Moses, Koziarz teaches us about four stages of transitions – development, separation, cultivation, finished – and provides practical ways to thrive in each season. Together we learn common characteristics of each stage, see examples in Moses’s life, and are provided additional opportunities to study these transitions in a guided Scripture study. Koziarz also shares personal examples from her own life, making it easy for the reader to connect to her teaching. She provides the voice of an empathetic, compassionate friend, delicately walking you through whatever season or transition you find yourself in today.
“We can be unsure, scared, or fearful – ready to quit. Or we can say we’re not ready to give up on this process with God. And trust that there’s something in you that still wants to fight for victory as you enter the next season of your life. As long as we have the willingness to fight, we have something to work with”
Koziarz, N. (2023). Your new now: Finding strength and wisdom when you feel stuck where you are (p. 140). Bethany House Publishers.
As I read this book and processed the teaching, I saw myself in each of the stages. I made connections to where I have been, where I am now, and where I want to go next. But most importantly, I came to appreciate that there is value in my today, in right now, even if I long to be somewhere else. I know that these stages and transitions are temporary, and I’m confident that God finishes what He starts (Philippians 1:6). He’s done it every time before; I trust Him to do the same for me.
It is with confidence that I strongly recommend this new release.
