“Expecting the Unexpected” – Guest Post on “One Day at a Time with Janny Mari”

One of my biggest complaints about work was that I didn’t have friends of faith to stand by my side…or at least, I thought I didn’t. One lady I work with is a Christian and we got to know each other pretty well. It helped to get to know her, even if we hardly had enough time to eat our lunches and solve our life problems before the day ended.

After God called me to write, the lady I work with said I needed to meet our colleague Janny. She has a similar calling on her life and we seem to have a lot in common. We barely saw each other in passing, though, with opposite schedules and never enough time to meet up. But God. We’ve gotten to email, follow each other’s writing and social media, and support each other in faith. Even though we don’t get to see each other too often, we still get to cultivate a friendship.

Just when I wanted to give up on my career this year, God showed me why He wouldn’t let me. My work at work was not done, no matter how much I tried to convince myself otherwise.

This week, the Holy Spirit led me to write a post for Janny’s blog. I wanted to write about perseverance, but somehow ended up sharing my testimony. You can read that post, “Expecting the Unexpected”, here…and be sure to read Janny’s posts! She is very encouraging, inspiring, and so well-rooted in her faith. I’m always uplifted by her kind words and biblical truths. I’m incredibly grateful to have such a lovely friend and colleague.
